Hemeon homers in 4-3 loss to N. Salinas
SALINAS – The Gilroy High baseball team went on the road Thursday to finish out its two-game set with league-foe North Salinas, hoping for a more favorable result than Monday’s 4-0 home loss.
Despite the solid pitching combination of seniors John Kirkish – who went into the fifth frame – and Todd Gimenez – who finished off the game – the Mustang diamondmen could not catch the host Vikings, falling 4-3.
Junior catcher Ben Hemeon showed his power at the plate with a home run, while Kirkish, Gimenez, and Rich Chavez all got base knocks. Third baseman Ruben Chavez also had a run-batted-in on a sacrifice fly.
Up next, the Mustangs (1-7 in T-CAL) will play a two-game set against neighboring rival Live Oak with a Tuesday home game and a Friday road game, both starting at 4 p.m.
