Toys needed for ‘mission’ to mexico
GILROY – Ultimate Health Chiropractic of Gilroy is accepting toy donations to bring with them on their “mission trip” to treat the less fortunate in Acapulco, Mexico. Dr. Arman Daryaie will travel with 10 other chiropractors who have been cordially invited by a church to help adjust the poor. They need your help to bring toys to the children. Ride ’em safe cowboy
GILROY – Join the Gilroy Police Department bicycle patrol officers, California Highway Patrol and other special guests at the Bicycle Rodeo Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rod Kelley School, 8755 Kern Ave. Kids should bring their bicycle to experience the challenges of completing the “Safe Moves City” bicycle safety course and learn skills related to pedestrian and bicycle safety. The course includes sidewalks, streets, crosswalks, intersections and more. There will also be free bicycle registration licenses. The rodeo is presented by the GPD in cooperation with Health Education of San Benito County and Wienerschnitzel. There will be free hot dogs and drinks for participants. Details: 846-2841.
Clown around at church barbecue
GILROY – Gilroy Presbyterian Church is having its annual picnic on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church campus. There will be a barbecue, bounce house, rock wall and slide, Clarence the Clown and shade tents. Church members are asked to donate $3 per person with a maximum of $10 per family. Public forums on Gavilan bond
GILROY – Residents are invited to attend public forums to learn about and discuss a possible bond measure to improve and expand Gavilan College facilities. Three forums are planned, one each in Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister. A member of the Board of Trustees will chair each meeting, assisted by Gavilan College President Steve Kinsella. The forums will include a brief presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period and informal discussion. Each forum will include an introduction of bond measure, project list and description of projects, the need to request local funding and financial information about the proposed bond. Meetings are as follows:
• Gilroy: Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Student Center north/south lounge, Gilroy Campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.
• Hollister: Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 375 5th St., Hollister.
Morgan Hill: Tuesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. (This will take place during the “public comments” section of the regularly scheduled board meeting.) at the Morgan Hill Unified School District Offices.

How wily are coyotes?
MORGAN HIILL – The last evening program of the Henry Coe State Park Summer series will be offered Saturday, Sept. 27, at Henry Coe State Park, east of Morgan Hill. Priscilla Campbell will bring to life the legends and lore of one of the earth’s most successful, cunning creatures – coyotes. MORGAN HILL – The 14th annual Taste of Morgan Hill will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 28.
The festival is held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Morgan Hill, expanding over six blocks on Monterey Road from Main to Dunne avenues and First through Fifth streets. The festival offers free admission, parking and secured bicycle parking on West First Street where you will receive a free water bottle from Specialized Bikes.

St. Catherine’s Harvest Festival
MORGAN HILL – St. Catherine’s Harvest Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary with food, rides, games and entertainment from Oct. 10 through 12. All proceeds will benefit St. Catherine’s Parish and School. There will be Italian, Filipino and Mexican cuisine as well as a chicken barbecue on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday morning. Beer and wine will be available. Enjoy pony rides, magic shows, local musicians, karate and dance performances. Admission is free. Discounts are available for advance purchase of ride and food tickets. The festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
