Luncheon from 12 to 1pm Feb. 23 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy.
The keynote speaker will be Janice Richard, head women’s basketball
coach at San Jose State University.

Gilroy – Gavilan College will host the Inaugural 2005 Lady Rams Luncheon from 12 to 1pm Feb. 23 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy. The keynote speaker will be Janice Richard, head women’s basketball coach at San Jose State University.
Tickets are $35 per person.
All proceeds will benefit women’s athletics at Gavilan College, which currently offers women’s programs in softball, basketball and soccer.
Under consideration this year is the addition of a women’s volleyball team.

Student Conducted Concert Thursday
Gilroy – The Gilroy High School Band Program will hold its annual Student Conducted Concert on Thursday, at 7pm, in the High School Theater.
This concert is scheduled to feature the High School’s award-winning Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band playing American, classical and movie-theme pieces selected and conducted by 12 talented, young, student musicians.
Admission is free and the public is welcome.
Blood drive Thursday at First Baptist Church
Gilroy – The American Red Cross will be holding a Blood Drive Thursday from, 1:30 to 6:30pm at First Baptist Church, 8455 Wren Ave.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit BeADonor.com. To donate blood you must be 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in general good health.
Bring your driver’s license if you have one. American Red Cross volunteer blood donors are required to provide identification before donating blood.
The preferred identifiers include a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, or a Red Cross blood donor card. Otherwise, two other forms of ID are needed.
Relay for Life hosts casino night
Gilroy – Relay For Life Team USA is hosting “Casino Night” at Dutchman’s Pizza, 6940 Chestnut St., Saturday, from 7 to 11pm.
The cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door and includes gaming chips, raffle ticket, food and music by J&J Karaoke DJ. Dress is semi-formal.
All proceeds go to American Cancer Society.

Tennis Club hosts Valentine’s Day mixer
Gilroy – The Gilroy Tennis Club will host “Be My Valentine Mixed Doubles Social Mixer” on Saturday, beginning at 8:30am at Las Animas Park.
Membership in the Gilroy Tennis Club is required to participate.

Rucker presents ‘Charlotte’s Web’

Learn to take photos like a professional
Gilroy – Whether you are using film or digital format cameras, here is a chance to learn to see like the professionals.
This two-hour class will help you understand what makes a great photo, so that you too can shoot like a pro and quit taking “snapshots.”
No camera is needed to attend class, taught by James M. Mohs, the award-winning chief photographer from The Dispatch.
The class will be given Feb. 12 from 1 to 3pm, at the Gilroy Senior Center Meeting Room. The class is for those 16 years and older.

Gilroy – Want to learn to make your photographs look even better? Digital cameras are changing the face of photography, and this two-hour class will show you the basic process of downloading, color correcting, cropping, printing, archiving, e-mailing, and much more.
This class will focus on Adobe Photoshop basics, but the techniques can be applied to nearly all photo programs.
The class is taught by James M. Mohs, award-winning chief photographer from The Dispatch.
