Cheers to our Gilroy City Council for refusing to bow to the pressure of unfounded charges, thus providing an opportunity for the public to hear all candidates‚ views. We invite every Gilroy citizen to learn about all candidates for mayor and city council by attending or watching the Gilroy First! forum on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m.
Gilroy First! is a non-profit, non-partisan organization working to register and educate voters. Gilroy First! does not endorse candidates. For candidate endorsements, consult the Republican party, Democratic party, COPE (a consortium of county unions), Gilroy Police Department, Gilroy Fire Fighters, or any other group whose opinion you value.
We don’t have much time for opinion page debates because we are too busy registering new voters of all political points of view – approximately 300 so far. We will continue to register and educate all Gilroy voters so that they can cast an informed vote. Watch for our candidate brochure, which compares the candidates‚ answers (published verbatim) to several questions.
Our next Gilroy First! meeting will be Sept. 25. Call me for details.
