Crash holds up traffic on Highway 152
GILROY – A four-car accident left nine people injured – only one seriously – and blocked traffic on Highway 152 for about an hour and a half Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Lenae Lovise, 31, of San Jose, suffered a broken ankle in the wreck, which began at about 7:10 a.m. when she lost control of her GMC sport-utility vehicle for an unknown reason and rear-ended a Honda sedan. The Honda then crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a Nissan minivan, which in turn hit a Pontiac minivan.
A Calstar Air Ambulance took Lovise to San Jose Medical center. The driver and two passengers in the Honda, including a 15-year-old boy, complained of neck and back pain and were taken to St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy. The driver and four passengers in the Pontiac, including three boys aged 8, 7 and 5, had cuts on their faces and extremities and were also taken to St. Louise. No one in the Nissan was hurt.
All of those injured were wearing seat belts, according to police.
