The Cougars mounted the late-game catch up, grabbing a slim one-point advantage and weathered a last-ditch jump shot to claim a 47-46 victory over Scotts Valley on Saturday night in the consolation game of the Everett Alvarez Eagles Classic.
“The kids stuck with it and battled to the end,” head coach Kaden Bahner said. “It was nice to see them get rewarded for their efforts.”
CHS collected a third-place finish in the tournament, victorious in the opening round 55-54 before a 71-39 loss sandwiched between the two wins.
Nick Cordova poured in a team-high 14 points and DJ Campos netted nine points for the Cougars (2-2), who face crosstown foe Gilroy High on Tuesday night at CHS. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
