A 66-year-old woman was flown to a regional trauma center Dec. 23 after being struck by a Chevy Truck at the intersection of Miller Avenue and Third Street, according to the Gilroy Police Department.

“It was very serious,” said GPD Sgt. Chad Gallacinao, who explained the senior was suspected to have life-threatening head injuries.

The accident occurred around 8:20 a.m., according to a GPD press release. Gallacinao said the case is still under investigation, and said he could not disclose any information on the driver of the truck or if charges had been filed.

“Initially, the pedestrian did suffer significant injuries as a result of her involvement with the collision,” he said Wednesday over the phone. “She has subsequently been released from the hospital. GPD cannot disclose what injuries she sustained.”

Police say the investigation is still ongoing due to the magnitude of the situation.
