Peter Alosi

Peter was born in Pomona, California. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73 at Bass Lake, California while on vacation with his family. Peter attended grammar and high school in Morgan Hill. He married his high school sweetheart, Virgie Dillon in 1957. They were married for fifty-two years. Peter and Virgie with their three small children moved to Hollister in 1967.

Peter was a member of several organizations including Boosters, Gourmet, Hollister Elks, Odd Fellows and SIRS all of Hollister. He was a past member of Antique Automobile Club of Salinas, Hollister Dance Club, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and San Benito Baler Band Boosters. Peter and Virgie traveled with the car club for many years throughout California and Nevada. While his children were in high school, he and Virgie were very active in the band program participating as presidents, board members and traveling as chaperones on trips throughout California.

Peter was last employed by Swim Pool Supply of Hollister from 1973 until he retired in 1993. He was previously employed by several trucking companies hauling cement from the Ideal Cement Plant in San Juan Bautista and PGE.

Peter was an avid hunter and fisherman and made yearly trips to neighboring states with friends and family. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family to favorite locations such as Eagle Lake and Pinecrest. He also enjoyed dancing with Virgie to the Big Band sounds.

Family was very important to Peter. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. A favorite outing for the family was wood cutting trips he termed “Family Picnics”.

Peter is survived by his wife,Virgie, children, Janice Alosi (Greg Bonturi) of Hollister, Gerald Alosi (Laurie) of Hollister and Susan Calleri (Robert) of Tres Pinos, grandsons, Kenneth and Daniel Calleri of Tres Pinos, granddaughters, Katherine and Breanna Alosi of Hollister, brother Joseph Alosi of Morgan Hill and in-laws, Everett and Myrtle Dillon of Hollister and he also was survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Carmelo and Rosa Alosi and sisters, Angela Snider, Josephine Togliatti and Carmel Barbano.

A memorial services will be held this Saturday, February 20th at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
