What a great event for South County. What always stands out when I watch the best players in the world up close is the established pre-shot routine they have for every shot.

This routine is what keeps everything consistent. Most golfers let their emotions get the best of them. When a hole is not going well, they tend to rush through it, simply trying to get it out of the way. This often compounds things and simply escalates the score.

By watching the pros, it is evident you can’t tell whether they are 5-under-par or 5-over-par. Their demeanor and routine never changes.

Take a tip from them and establish your pre-shot routine. Take the same amount of time on a double-bogey putt as a birdie putt. They all count as one stroke more or less if you make or miss it.

Check out the terrain on your chip shots. All these pre-shot ideas help to lower your score and give you a sense of purpose on each shot Don’t just swing the club and hope it goes where you want it to go.
