• Gilroy – A 30-year-old Madera man was arrested for drug possession after he drove through a closed construction area on Pacheco Pass Highway early Friday.

A California Highway Patrol officer saw Joaquin Saucedo Castro, driving eastbound on Highway 152, veer into an area of the road that was closed for Caltrans construction and strike several cones. Castro crossed over the double yellow lines and made a U-turn, then headed south on San Felipe Road, according to the arrest report.

When the officer pulled Castro over, there were two baggies of a rock-like substance in plain view. Three more baggies containing drugs were found in the car’s center console during a search.

Castro was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and driving without a license, a misdemeanor.
