OVYS team goes 4-0 at Ajax Fall Invitational
The Orchard Valley Rampage U12 girls soccer team won the Ajax Fall Invitational championship held in Ripon during the weekend of Sept. 25-26, prevailing in all four games.

The Rampage outscored their opponents 17-2 over the four-game span.

“The Rampage girls stepped things up this weekend, bringing it all together to play their best soccer,” head coach Todd Kimble said. “It was very enjoyable to watch their progress this weekend.”

In the championship match, held in 98-degree heat, the Rampage played a solid and aggressive Ajax Elite team.

The Rampage girls jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Alyssa Bengivengo and Holly Hopwood.

With the Rampage on their heels a bit, things became more difficult when Ajax converted on a penalty kick early in the second half. However, the Rampage settled down and began to dominate the game, pulling away with Bengivengo and Hopwood scoring their second goals of the game for a final score of 4-1.

“I am so proud of the way the girls competed this weekend,” assistant coach Mario Contreras said. “They were very unselfish, making beautiful passes and supporting each other. These girls are playing some exciting soccer.”

In the first game of the weekend, Rampage played a physical team from Manteca, winning 3-0 on goals by Chelsey Robles, Kira Sevor and Bengivengo.

With only a one-hour turnaround between games, the girls came out ready to play against a strong team from Vacaville, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes and going on to win 3-1 on goals by Emmalyn Irvin, Casandra Aguayo and Bengivengo.

Early Sunday morning, the Rampage girls dominated the Inter Rage Academy, victorious on goals from seven different players in a 7-0 decision. Goals were scored by, Casandra Aguayo, Hailey Blackburn, Kami Humphrey, Megan Perron, Kira, Hopwood and Bengivengo.
