Dorris Uarda Cashion

Dorris Uarda Cashion, 77, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, born in Lawn, Texas passed away at her home in Hollister, CA after a lengthy illness.

She was the fifth child born to J. J. and Marie Shelton of Texas. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1950 in Texas.

She then married Dewey Cashion (from Hollister, CA) in Lubbock June 20, 1950. They have been married 59 wonderful years. After they married, Dewey took her back with him to Hollister, CA. They have resided in Hollister ever since.

Dorris was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was active in many ministries of the church. She loved to knit, crochet and make crafts. She also loved her trips to the Mojave Desert and back to Texas to visit her sisters and other relatives. She also loved receiving photographs of her friends and loving family as demonstrated on the walls of her home.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She always remembered each special occasion in her friends and families’ lives with a card. Many of the cards were serious but the older she got the funnier the cards became. She was a wonderful woman and had quite a sense of humor. She was blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home mom and her children were blessed that she was able to do that. Each of her children thought that they were her favorite child but in actuality all of them were her favorite.

Dorris is survived by her loving husband, Dewey Cashion; son Jimmy (Honey Sue) Cashion of Olalla, WA; daughter Louise (Manny) Yuste of Los Banos, CA and son Duane (Doreen) Cashion of Hollister, CA. Grandchildren Ben (Lindsey) Cashion of Cabot, AR; Brooke Cashion of Carmichael, CA and Stacy and Traci Yuste of Los Banos, CA. Great-grandchildren Alysia and Zeta Cashion of Cabot, AR. She is also survived by her sisters Lucille Smith of Hart, TX; Margie Peterson of Lubbock, TX and Fran (Jack) Houghton of Saratoga, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Martha Leake and her brother Jack Shelton.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, 1900 Highland Drive, Hollister, CA on March 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.
