HAGEN TOURNEY: Alvarez defeats CHS in Round 2

GILROY – Despite nine strikeouts by pitcher Aly Olvera, the
Cougars were unable to avoid their first loss of the season,
dropping an 8-1 decision to the visiting Monarchs on Tuesday.
GILROY – Heading into Tuesday’s game with the Monarchs of Archbishop Mitty, the Christopher High junior varsity softball team held a perfect 3-0 record to start its first season.

And despite nine strikeouts by pitcher Aly Olvera, the Cougars were unable to avoid their first loss of the season, dropping an 8-1 decision to the visiting Monarchs on Tuesday.

Kayla Medrano scored on a past ball after belting a triple for the Cougars’ lone run of the afternoon. Mariah Martinez and Kaslin Ettema also collected base hits.

CHS has an away game against Monta Vista on Thursday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
