Go mustangs!

Mustangs defeat Panthers 5-0 in quarterfinals, face Mitty in
semis
GHS field hockey coach Adam Gemar said the goal for his squad in its Central Coast Section quarterfinals tilt against Presentation equaled a score every 10 minutes.

The second-seeded Mustangs nearly accomplished that feat in Saturday’s 60-minute encounter.

Gilroy received three goals from Kaylana Mah en route to a convincing 5-0 victory over the No. 10 Panthers to move itself into the semifinals for the third consecutive season.

“There was a good combination of everything,” Gemar said. “At the beginning of the game, there was stuff we wanted to get worked out and we fixed those by the middle of the game and everything clicked.”

Shayna Robledo and Dani Hemeon also scored for GHS.

The Mustangs will take on No. 3 Mitty, who narrowly squeaked by No. 6 Saint Francis, 1-0, at Del Mar High School on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

In the other half of the bracket, No. 1 Los Gatos eased past No. 9 Live Oak, 6-0, while No. 12 Del Mar upset the fourth-seeded Leland Chargers 2-1 in double overtime.
