Lugo Motors edged Team Wicked 10-8 Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park to earn the second-half Men’s C Softball League title.
The victory lifted Lugo Motors (5-1) into the best 2-of-3 Championship Series opposite first-half titlist Taqueria Del Sol beginning Monday July 12.
Team Wicked, a tie-breaker loser to Taqueria Del Sol in the first half, opened Wednesday’s showdown with a four-run first inning, capped by a three-run home run from Pablo Perez. Lugo Motors responded with a three-run first that Joseph Cano featured with a two-run double.
Mike Hernandez lashed a two-run single as Lugo Motors took a 6-4 lead in the third inning.
Cano went 3-for-3 and Thomas Woods scored three runs for the winners. Alex Pena and Ryan Tapia each mustered three hits for Team Wicked (4-2).
Chon Cantano and Joe Ojeda each hit a two-run single in a seven-run seventh inning to help Players-HD Auto Glass past RSW Racing 17-9.
Randy Garcia went 4-for-4 and Robert Pena hit a three-run homer for the winners. Raul Monroy homered for RSW.
Donny Gooding doubled and scored on an error in the bottom of the eighth to give Fun party Supply an 8-7 win over Anritsu. Cary O’Neal paced Anritsu with three hits.
Heathen (4-2) powered past Mangia La Pizza 12-7 as Zeke Lopez homered and Eddie Flores added two doubles and a single. Jess Lopez homered and singled twice for Mangia La Pizza.
Mountain Mike’s Pizza of Gilroy capped a 6-0 second-half run in the Women’s League with a 14-9 nod over All 4 Seasons Pet Services Wednesday. Mountain Mike’s and All 4 Seasons begin the Championship Series on Tuesday July 13 at 6:30pm at Christmas Hill.
Joleen Carrasco lined two doubles and a single for Mountain Mike’s. Maureen Hughes scored three Pet Services runs.
Station 55 defeated Garza Sisters & Friends 22-12 as Michelle MacVicar went 5-for-5.
Alicia Hernandez accounted for a double and two singles for Garza Sisters.
Trillo-Dee’z Nutz claimed the Men’s BB title Monday with a 15-7 decision over Los Gigantes.
Raul Gracia went 4-for-4 and Rich Perez homered for the winners. Jeremy Page went 3-for-3 with a homer for Los Gigantes.
D-Boyz, the second-place winner, finished the campaign with a 32-18 verdict over Dirty Dozen.
Leroy Dozal homered in a 5-for-6 effort for D-Boyz. Ryan Evanger went 5-for-6 with a Los Gigantes homer.
Maniosos dropped a 13-8 decision to This Is It Monday to finish in a three-way tie for first place in the second half of the Men’s C League.
IFC-Self Made will play Hit Crew Monday at 6:30pm at Christmas Hill Park.
The winner of that game will play at 7:40 against Maniosos for the second-half pennant.
Jarrod Hernandez and Frank Medina each homered as This Is It upset Maniosos. Chris Adame homered for the losers.
IFC-Self Made earned a spot in the tie-breaker series with a 12-4 victory over DS Builders. Greg Lucio Sr. went 3-for-3 for IFC-Self Made. Chris Thomas went 2-for-3 and scored two runs for DS Builders (3-3).
Who’s Next defeated CSM 24-19, dropping CSM out of a first-place tie. Rob Sanchez went 6-for-6 for Who’s Next. Rodney Clore homered in a 4-for-5 showing for CSM.
NorCal Regulators moved into a tie for first at 4-1 with the Hustlers by outlasting the Hustlers 10-5 in Co-Rec B play Tuesday. Manuel Capulin went 4-for-4 with two homers for NorCal. Matias Franco went 3-for-4 and scored two Hustler runs.
38th annual Fourth of July Tournament
The 38th annual Co-Rec Fourth of July Softball Tournament opens play Saturday at 2 p.m. at two fields.
A pool of 14 teams will play Saturday and Sunday in a double-elimination format.
The eight-team C Division has a four-game first round Saturday at Christmas Hill Park.
Liquid Playground and Life’s A Pitch play at 2 p.m. Batters Up and Ur Face square off at 3:10. Blackout Window Tinting and Just Roll Ole compete at 4:20, with Team Rush and Station 55 playing the 5:30 contest.
The six-team B Division begins play at Las Animas Park. NorCal Most Wanted tests DC at 2 p.m. Jennie’s Crew-Dutchman’s challenges SMC at 3:10.
The Hustlers play at 4:20 p.m. against the 2 p.m winner. JR’s Crew plays at 5:30 p.m. against the 3:10
winner.
