The District 59 11-year-old All-Star final pitted the American and National squads from Gilroy Little League on Monday night – and the two battled to the end.

Twelve of the 13 players that make up the South County Titans, an 11U travel ball team, were on either side of the lines Monday, demonstrating just how familiar the two teams were with one another.

In a contest that had runs aplenty for both sides ultimately went to the American bunch in an 18-12 decision for the right to take the field for the sectional tournament beginning Saturday.

Larry Chacon Jr. belted three doubles and five RBI, while Mike Sanchez, Kevin Krulee, Zack Waller, Obina Ezeka and Nick Garcia all had two hits each for American, who will play Campbell Little League in Saratoga on Saturday.

Dillion McFarland had the biggest blast of the night for National, connecting for a three-run home run.

Keeping the spirit of sportsmanship alive, both teams celebrated together after the game at Straw Hat.
