Doulos becomes training provider
Xilinx announced the addition of Doulos, based in Morgan Hill, to the company’s network of Authorized Training Provider members in North America.
Doulos, a leader in system-on-chip and field programmable gate array design and verification training solutions, has been an ATP member since 2004, providing services to Xilinx customers in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
“Joining the Xilinx ATP network in North America is an important step in Doulos’ strategy to provide fully integrated design and verification training solutions for hardware, embedded software and systems engineering,” said Phil Mundy, strategic relationship manager at Doulos. “As Xilinx continues its push forward in device and platform technology, Doulos will work closely with the company’s channels and customers, delivering know-how through training to enable the capabilities of Xilinx FPGAs to be turned into project successes.”
Over the past year, Xilinx has expanded the ATP program to include a total of 30 member companies (www.xilinx.com/training/atp.htm) serving customers in 43 countries in Africa and the Middle East, Asia, the Americas and Europe. Notably, since April 2009 ATP members have delivered more than 25,000 student days of training.
“Doulos has an excellent track record in delivering high-quality training services to Xilinx customers, working hand-in-hand with our worldwide sales organization,” said Jason Fegley, training manager at Xilinx. “In today’s global economic environment, designers are challenged to do more with less, reduce risk and differentiate to survive. As a result, hands-on training has become an essential component to getting design done faster and at a lower cost. To meet the needs of a growing base of customers, we’ve re-engineered our training offerings to make learning accessible to a broader, more diverse audience in modular formats, tailored to their requirements. Doulos’ philosophy of ‘service through excellence’ is well matched to the philosophy of our Xilinx ATP program.”
The ATP program complements Xilinx Training Services curriculum with classroom instruction and labs tailored to customer needs and aimed at accelerating design success with Xilinx flagship FPGAs, including Virtex(R)-6 and Spartan(R)-6-based Targeted Design Platforms, comprising base (silicon, IP, logic tools, boards, reference designs), domain-specific (embedded processing, DSP or logic/connectivity IP and tools, FMC daughter cards), and market-specific (IP, custom tools and boards).
Alien collaborates on curriculum
Alien Technology, an industry leader in UHF Gen 2 radio frequency identification (RFID) products and services announced a collaborative educational partnership with RFID4U, a RFID training and solutions firm based in Sunnyvale. The agreement is in an effort to help standardize and align RFID educational curriculums with a consistent theme, and to broaden the geographic coverage and course selection to their customers.
This will provide additional session date and location options from which to choose, thereby enhancing customer convenience.
Both firms will offer a four-day “RFID+ Certification Training” program, inclusive of a blend between classroom and hands-on training with an optional CompTIA exam offered at the end of each session. Now, combined with RFID4U, staple training locations will include San Jose, CA; Washington, DC; Las Vegas, NV; and Dayton, OH. Additional locations are subject to demand. Course offerings will be made available to customers on the websites of both firms.
Said Pat Ervin, Alien’s V.P. Global Sales and Marketing, “Alien’s long standing RFID Academy has been instrumental in helping shape the UHF RFID community. First launched in northern California in 2002, the program expanded globally and eventually relocated to Alien’s more centrally located facility, the RFID Solutions Center in Dayton, Ohio. The RFID Solutions Center is a state-of-the-art 23,000 square foot training and lab environment which provides students the opportunity to develop the needed skills to ‘hit the ground running.’ The program has educated several thousand graduates world-wide and its success is attributable to the right blend of theory and hands-on lab training, where content is continuously refreshed with real-world learnings. We are pleased to further expand our educational offerings with RFID4U, and help standardize the RFID academic curriculum.”
