The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a wide range of crimes this past week, including failure to register as a sex offender, embezzlement, carrying a concealed firearm and eluding a pursuing police officer. Arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Jan. 31 and Feb. 8. Following a shift in official policy, the Dispatch will no longer be publishing the names of suspects as they appear in the arrest logs for the purposes of the police blotter.
Carrying a concealed firearm
-Hollister man, 28, Feb. 7 at 8:52 p.m. near the intersection of Maple and Seventh streets for seven felony charges: possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm by an active participant in a criminal street gang, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, carrying a firearm on a person or vehicle, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and selling or aiding in the sale of stolen property.
Contempt of court
-Gilroy man, 45, Jan. 31 at 7:07 p.m. on the 100 block of Hornlein Court for two misdemeanor charges.
Domestic violence charges
-Gilroy man, 32, Feb. 2 at 7:02 a.m. on the 6800 block of Princevalle Street for one felony charge of inflicting bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
-Gilroy man, 31, Feb. 5 at 3:07 a.m. on the 8500 block of Wren Avenue for felony inflicting bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
-Gilroy man, 37, Feb. 7 at 10:56 p.m. on the 900 block of Third Street for battery on a former spouse, fiancé or friend.

-Hollister man, 24, Feb. 3 at 5:46 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey Street and Luchessa Avenue for one felony charge of inflicting bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant, one felony charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, false imprisonment and preventing the use of a cell phone to summon authorities.
-Gilroy man, 21, Feb. 4 at 11:07 a.m. on the 8400 block of Monterey Road for four charges of violation of a court order in a domestic violence case, battery against a spouse, cohabitant or friend and vandalism with damages less than $400.
