Each week we recognize one area male and female athlete for their performance on the field of play. This week’s are:
Matt Peterson, Gavilan Baseball

Peterson was instrumental for Gavilan in its regular season finale against Hartnell April 23. He went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and scored a run, helping the Rams to a 10-5 win. His performance helped the team clinch its first conference championship in 36 years.

Stofer and Heredia made Gavilan history on April 23 as they became the first Rams to qualify for the California Community College Athletic Association State Sand Volleyball playoffs. The duo beat Foothill College to punch their tickets to state. They will take on Irvine College Friday.
