Prep Roundup: May 4

The Cougar lacrosse team won its third straight game, beating Pacific Collegiate 11-9 Friday at home. 
Jordan Padilla played like a pro between the pipes, despite it being his first time in net. He faced 19 shots and saved 10 of those from reaching the back of the goal. 
On offense, senior Anthony Sammut led the team with five goals and an assist. 
Austin Reichert, Brad Charron, Evan Essary, Zach Green, Esteban Fabela and Cole Rhodes all scored a goal for Christopher. Charron, Fabela and Zach Cefalu each had an assist also. 
The Cougars (9-3 overall, 7-3 in league) have just two games left in the regular season. They host Scotts Valley at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Carmel at 7 p.m. Thursday.
BASEBALL
Cougars fall to MVC in extras
It took eight innings to decide a winner between Christopher and Monte Vista Christian Tuesday.
The Mustangs scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to edge Christopher 2-1 in Watsonville. 
The Cougars’ lone run came in the top of the first when Gordy Papalias drove in Anthony Rodriguez. 
Justin Nelson had the only other hit for Christopher in the game. 
Bryan Easton was given the loss despite a strong performance on the bump. He allowed two runs on five hits through 7.1 innings. He also struck out two and walked one. 
The Cougars (11-11, 7-7) will host Salinas at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Mustangs drop two
Gilroy’s struggles continued last week as it dropped two games to Palma and Monterey. 
The Mustangs lost to Palma 6-3 on Tuesday before falling to Monterey 9-2 on Thursday. Both games were at home. 
Stats and scoring for both games were not yet available. 
Gilroy (6-18 overall, 3-12 in league) look to rebound against Christopher at 4 p.m. Friday at Gavilan.
SOFTBALL
Cougars blank Cowboys
The Cougar rebounded from an 8-0 loss to Notre Dame on April 28 by blanking Salinas Thursday. 
Christopher shutdown the Cowboys, winning 11-0 at home. 
Stats and scoring from both games were not yet available. 
The Cougars (8-9 overall, 3-5 in league) will host Monterey at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
