Sex poems off the charts
Dear Editor,
While looking on “The Dispatch” Web page I came across the poll concerning a Brownell School teacher, who read poems with a sexual theme to students in the classroom.
I also noticed that 66 percent of the Web poll voters stated that the teacher should not lose her job over it. I am asking where the communities morals have gone!? Poetry is a form of art, that much I do agree upon. And I feel that if children under the age of 18 are exposed to that type of poetry it should be under parental consent, and parents should have a right to remove their children form the class during the poetry reading or course length.
I am so tired of the “if it feels good do it” society. I recall a well-rounded curriculum when I attended school back in the ’60s and ’70s.
What if the teacher decided to do a little touching to go along with with the highlights of the poem? Would you all say “Oh well it is art” or would you be up in arms asking how this happened?
It’s time to wake up people! With this kind of teaching I can see why public schools have gone down hill.

Lord’s Table sends thanks
Dear Editor:
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who made the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Lord’s Table a huge success.
Special thanks to:
Joe Peralta and Val Filice for preparing the delicious dinner. It is not easy to cook for 300 people, but everything was done to perfection. This duo and their team continue to amaze us with their talents in the kitchen and the love in their hearts; Jenny Derry and her loyal Dispatch readership who responded to the annual call for pies. More than 180 pies were donated this year, making for a sweet ending to a wonderful day; Louis Eros, “the mashed potato king” for whipping up over 100 pounds of potatoes; Tim and Quincey Moon, who shared their gift of music for all to enjoy. They helped create a warm, festive atmosphere for all to enjoy; The Todd Jones family, who donated hundreds of boxes to St. Joseph’s Family Center that allowed us
to distribute wonderful food baskets to more than 550 families.
Finally, to all the volunteers and supporters who stopped by to give thanks and share the spirit of the holidays with our dinner guests. We cherish your participation and were honored by your presence.
Blessings to all of you during the holiday season and throughout the New Year!
Sue Moon,
Lord’s Table Coordinator
