The owners of Old City Hall Restaurant (OCH) in Gilroy, Fran and Bobby (a Vietnam War Veteran who served with the Marines) Beaudet, are committed to our community and its veterans. As an example, on Veteran’s Day, veterans can meet upstairs for a free breakfast. And all veterans can receive a nice discount on their meal by just asking!
Recently, the entire staff at OCH began wearing red shirts in support of our deployed troops.
For those unfamiliar with the movement, Red Shirt Friday began back in April 2015 when students at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania started wearing red on Fridays to honor U.S. military service members deployed overseas. Since then the movement has dramatically expanded and now receives nationwide support.
The motto, Remember Everyone Deployed (R.E.D.) now adorns the shirts being worn at OCH on Fridays.
The custom RED Shirts were made by Michele Pierson (Daughter of a Vietnam War Veteran) of Cal Silk Screen Printing. Michele is also the creator for all the shirts worn daily by the OCH staff.
This gesture by OCH is a wonderful tribute to our troops. And, maybe one day the streets of Gilroy will be filled with people wearing red shirts on Fridays as a patriotic reminder that our service members are stationed around the world, away from family and friends, to keep all of us here in America safe.
Thank you Fran and Bobby!
