Salazar bowls 300 game; 44th annual tournament opens up
GILROY – League bowler Jess Salazar bowled a perfect 300 game to highlight last week’s action at the Gilroy Bowl, but Chet Steengraffe’s 799 series (299 high) topped the men’s divisions.

Striker Tammy Lewis bested the women’s divisions with a 693 series (268 high), while Antonio Landeverde’s 614 series (243 high) was tops in the Saturday morning juniors division.

Sam Bondi scored a 635 series (290 high) in the senior’s division at the local lanes in the downtown on Monterey Street.

The Gilroy Bowl will be hosting its 44th annual Gilroy Association Tournament on Feb. 7-8 and Feb. 14-15. In addition, the Ladies Tournament will take place Feb. 21-29 and the Men’s Tournament on March 6-14.

Rounding out the men’s divisions were: Terry Lee (269 high, 760 series); Tom Moriyama (236, 727); Jim Wood (268, 739); Alan Fong (287, 700); Ray Bravo (280, 739); Larry Shiba (228, 661); Jody Baty (266, 653); Rich Wison (247, 675).

Finishing off the women’s divisions were: Hiromi Sakai (244 high, 693 series); Kathy Bennett (243, 634); Grace Kawano (200, 598); Joline Furuya (214, 564); Tracy Nelson (229, 617); and Kathy Misenheimer (235, 636).

Junior scorers included Mike Grzyb (236 high, 571 series) and Brian Morrison (242, 591).
