Organizations that Bill was a member of include The American Legion Post 669, Masonic Lodge 182 and Scottish Rite 32nd degree. He loved his work with the Joseph Gubser Garlic Company, working alongside his boyhood friend, Joseph Gubser, for 52 years. Hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards, his home and yard (especially his old oak tree), barbecues, family and friends were also loves of his life.

Bill is survived by his wife Doris. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. He is also survived by his three children Joe Lane and his wife Pam, of Bakersfield, Janice Darden and her husband Ed Darden III, of Fresno, and Sharon Loveseth and her husband Steve, of Port Costa; grandchildren Tiffany Lane, Crystal Lane, William Lane, Holly Smith, Brooke Bergman, Ed Darden IV and Helga “Hillie” Loveseth.

Bill was preceded in death by his brother Richard Lane and sister Marge Clark.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Graveside services to begin noon at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy.
