Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Brownell School Gym on Hanna Street from
5 to 8 p.m. Chef Sam Bozzo and his crew will be serving three great
sauces: pesto, alfredo and a red meat sauce. Salad, garlic bread,
dessert and drink are also includ

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Choirs will hold a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Brownell School Gym on Hanna Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Chef Sam Bozzo and his crew will be serving three great sauces: pesto, alfredo and a red meat sauce. All proceeds from the dinner will be used for all the choirs to travel to the American Choral Directors Association Choral Festival in San Luis Obispo, as well as for the Concerto Delle Donne to tour in Southern California and the Chamber Singers to tour in Germany and the Czech Republic in April.

Youth meet employers

GILROY – The South County Division of the Mexican American Community Services Agency (MACSA) Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth program will host “Mano en Mano” on Friday, Feb. 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Gilroy One Stop, 190 Leavesley Road.

This is an evening of fun and food to strengthen the friendship between the developing youth workforce and the new businesses of Gilroy. Special recognition will be given to Bonfante Gardens for their dedication to teach youth work ethic, team work and responsibility.

Meet the candidates

SAN MARTIN – Numerous legislative candidates will be at the Gilroy and Morgan Hill chapter of the California Republican Assembly’s monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the rented facilities of Church of the Valley, 13380 Depot St. All of the Republican legislative candidates, including those running for the U.S. Senate, have been invited to the meeting. Most of them, except the statewide candidates for Senate, have indicated they plan to attend.

Get prepared

GILROY – The City of Gilroy Office of Emergency Services and South County Neighborhood Disaster Preparedness Project will begin a seven-week series of Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) classes on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 7 to 10 p.m., at Chestnut Fire Station.

Houston as City Attorney

LOS ALTOS – Partner with the San Jose based law firm of Berliner Cohen, Jolie Houston was appointed City Attorney for the City of Los Altos. Mayor Kris Casto said Houston was chosen from other candi-dates because of her experience in land use and the strength of her firm.

She is also the Assistant Attorney for the City of Gilroy and is a former Deputy City Attorney for the City of Santa Clara.

Feast on crab

GILROY – The Gilroy Knights of Columbus Council 2469 will host a “Crab Feed” on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the St. Mary Parish, 11 First St., in the Cullen Hall. Happy hour starts at 6 p.m., followed by the crab feed at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Knights of Columbus scholarships and other charitable activities. MORGAN HILL – The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) will host Peg Jackson’s “Pet Photo Days” Friday, Feb. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 8, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Animal Care Center, 16025 Vineyard Blvd. Get a top-quality 5-by-7 photo of your pet for $50.
