Dutchman’s best in C League; Playaz tops in CC
GILROY – Team Talamo Foods edged past Craig Avila Bail Bonds 10-8 Tuesday to earn the first-half Men’s B League title at Christmas Hill Park.

Team Talamo, the defending league champion, erased a 7-4 deficit with six runs in the sixth inning. Five consecutive hits created a 7-7 tie before Henry Calderon lashed a three-run home run.

Abel Jacquez paced the winners with three hits. Richard Rodriquez went 4-for-4 and Steve Pacheco went 3-for-4 for Craig Avila Bail Bonds.

Team Talamo and Craig Avila split the two-game series in the first half, each finishing at 5-1 to force the playoff.

The Dirty Dozen survived an 11-10 win over Countryside Daycare Center Tuesday to take the first-half Men’s CCC title.

Countryside (5-2) fashioned an 8-3 lead after four innings, keyed by a two-run double by Albert Alosi and two singles and two runs scored by Charlie Roe.

The Dirty Dozen (6-1) responded with three runs in the fifth that was highlighted by a two-run Ricky Salinas triple. The Dozen drew even in the sixth on Art Naranjo’s two-out RBI-double. Salinas tripled to open the Dozen seventh, then scored the game-winner on an Xavier Puente single.

John DeCarlo Sr. and John DeCarlo Jr. each collected three hits for Countryside Daycare.

Dutchman’s Pizza claimed the first-half Women’s C League pennant by defeating M&M’s 25-9 in a playoff Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Cheryl Baragona went 4-for-4 with five RBI for Dutchman’s. Helen Ortega added a double and three singles, plating three Dutchman’s runs. Missy Hice drilled two triples and a single, Laura Hagiperos a triple and two doubles for the M&M’s.

The Playas outlasted the Las Animas Sweepers 27-20 to take the first-half Men’s CC League crown Wednesday.

The Playaz pushed across 12 runs in the second inning to build a 15-2 lead. The Sweepers pulled back into contention with a 10-run second inning explosion.

George Salgado Jr. hit two home runs and a single, driving in six Playaz runs. Sammy DeLeon added a homer, triple and single. Kevin Orozco hit two home runs, Brian Cortez a homer, double, single and sacrifice fly for the Sweepers.
