GILROY – The Gilroy High School Parent Club needs volunteers to work at the Garlic Festival and raise money that will go straight into classrooms, helping out hard-working teachers.

Please come and work for a fun time and a very good cause. Hours worked at the festival equal money back to the Parent Club.

‘Office Hours’ on stage

GILROY – Pintello Comedy Theater, 8531 Church St., presents ‘Office Hours,’ directed by Marion Pintello, beginning on Friday, June 4. The play shows at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, June 4 through July 3.

‘Office Hours’ is a comedy featuring five actors playing 17 parts in six different offices who are connected, but in very unexpected ways. Local actors include Rod Pintello, his son Simon Pintello, Donna Tom, John Brewer and Sandi Lewandowski.

Start rockin’

GILROY – Gilroy Unified School District Middle School Performing Arts proudly presents ‘Rock Around the Block,’ a 1950s musical performed by middle school students from Ascension Solarsano, Brownell Academy and South Valley Junior High.

The show is directed by Jose ‘Pepe’ Espinosa and Zoi Amaya Alvarez.

Performances will be held at the Gilroy High School Theater on tonight at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 5, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $9 for adults or $5 for students.

Wild barbecue

SAN MARTIN – The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) will host a ‘Barbecue and Auction’ on Saturday, June 19, from noon to 3 p.m. at the San Martin Pumpkin Patch, 13865 Monterey Road.

Enjoy a barbecue with all the trimmings, bid on unique auction items, including attendance at a bobcat release, have a chance at great opportunity drawings and meet the educational animals.

Also, request your favorite songs from noon to 1:30 p.m. with Perry Productions DJ services. Help keep the wildlife wild and have fun too.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Deadline to buy tickets is June 10.

Play with Jeff Garcia

GILROY – The public is invited to join Jeff Garcia and friends for the 2004 ‘Jeff Garcia Open Annual Golf Tournament’ benefiting the Make A Wish Foundation, St. Joseph’s Family Center and local youth scholarships.

The tournament will be held on Friday, June 11, at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

Don’t miss this chance for a day of fun with the former 49er quarterback and other celebrities in support of local charities.The scramble play, mixed team tournament features prizes, including the chance to win a new car or one million dollars for a hole in one. Check in will be at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Hors d’oeuvres, dinner, silent and live auctions and awards presented by Garcia will cap off an exciting day.
