1) Beverly Olivier-Blount, concertmaster and principal violinist for South Valley Symphony gets the orchestra ready during rehearsal. The first concert of the season takes place at 7:30pm at Gavilan College Theater. The program includes “March Militaire” by Shubert; “The Moldau” by Smetana and “The Lark Ascending” by Vaughn Williams as well as the Rachmaninoff Piano Concert No. 2 with Maria Amirkhnaian.

2) Swank Farms was awarded the San Benito County Business of the month for October. Pictured are owners Bonnie and Dick Swank with San Benito County Ambassadors. The picture was taken at their 5th annual corn maze (haunted at night by Screamworks!) and pumpkin patch.

3) The City of Gilroy Fire Department received its second gift from the multi-year Barney Garcia Endowment created in 2003 by the William and Marji Buehler family of Tucson, Ariz. The department will use the funds to purchase additional training materials and supplies. The Buehlers established the endowment in honor of Marji Buehler’s father, a member of the volunteer Gilroy Fire Department in the 1930s and 40s.
