Dear Editor,
I’d like to voice my disappointment at some of The Dispatch’s
recent Gilroy Unified School District endorsement choices.
To give The Dispatch the benefit of the doubt, and go on faith
that there isn’t a special interest involved in the endorsement of
the executive editor’s mother-in-law as the #1 choice, I’m hoping
you’ll also give me the benefit of the doubt when I say
– not only as Kristen Porter’s husband, but as somebody who has
been following this matter very closely – that I have no special
interest in expressing that the clear choice for a
breath-of-fresh-air on the board would be Rhoda Bress.
Dear Editor,

I’d like to voice my disappointment at some of The Dispatch’s recent Gilroy Unified School District endorsement choices.

To give The Dispatch the benefit of the doubt, and go on faith that there isn’t a special interest involved in the endorsement of the executive editor’s mother-in-law as the #1 choice, I’m hoping you’ll also give me the benefit of the doubt when I say – not only as Kristen Porter’s husband, but as somebody who has been following this matter very closely – that I have no special interest in expressing that the clear choice for a breath-of-fresh-air on the board would be Rhoda Bress.

I can honestly say, objectively, that I happen to share the opinion of columnist, Denise Baer Apuzzo, who recommends both Rhoda Bress and Bob Heisey. I, too, believe that without these two candidates’ election, there will be more of the same mediocrity and ineptitude that has brought a world of hurt and negative focus to GUSD.

Whether or not it was intentional, The Dispatch’s endorsement of Rhoda Bress seemed lukewarm. She, and Bob Heisey deserve more credit and voter consideration.

These two candidates represent the passion and the reform platform needed to improve the school district and bring about the changes that the people of Gilroy are clamoring for. Parents and citizens of Gilroy, this is your opportunity – vote for Rhoda Bress and Robert Heisey.
