Don’s Vending claimed the Women’s Winter League season title Wednesday with a 22-7 victory over Dutchman’s Pizza at Las Animas Park.
Liz Adams went 4-for-4 and scored four runs as Don’s finished at 7-1. Dutchman’s slipped to 6-2 and a tie for second place with Goldsmith Seeds.
The Playoff Night for Women’s League is Monday Nov. 8 at Las Animas. Don’s Vending will play either Chaos or Kay’s Kids at 6:30 p.m., with Dutchman’s and Goldsmith playing at 7:40. The two winners collide at 8:50 for the championship trophy. Chaos and Kay’s Kids play Monday Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Las Animas for the fourth seed.
Kathy Van Hoy lined four hits and Liz Talavera and Kim Lopez each drove in three Don’s Vending runs. Sheri Steinbeck hit three doubles for Dutchman’s.
Maureen Duggan smoked a three-run triple to help the Energizers past Michael’s Mufflers 19-2. Kathy Meisenheimer went 5-for-5 and Mary Solari and Denise Chavez followed with four hits each for the Energizers. Soheila Guerin drilled two Muffler hits.
Happy Dog Pizza maintained a one-game lead in the Men’s Winter DD League Wednesday with a 29-9 nod over Team Hair FX at Christmas Hill Park.
Darren Wall homered twice while hitting for the cycle for the 6-1 Dog. Matt Corona, Rusty Trevino and Dan Gavrity each netted four Happy Dog hits. Mike Kachel went 4-for-4 and Brett Faust added three hits and scored three runs for Team Hair FX.
Walter Margetich went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to highlight a 9-6 Claddagh Brew Crew win over the Boyz. Bobby Howard went 2-for-2 and scored two Boyz runs.
The Slammers scored 13 runs in the second inning and held on to defeat the G-Men 14-6. Dustin Barnes stroked two doubles in the Slammer second. Kurt Gitmed provided a two-run home run. Ricky Castaneda went 3-for-3 for the G-Men.
