GILROY – St. Joseph’s Family Center will host a St. Patrick’s dinner on Saturday, March 13, at the St. Mary Auditorium, 11 First St. Enjoy an evening of fun, frolic and festivities. The event starts at 6 p.m. A donation of $25 per person will go to benefit families in need and the homeless in the community. GILROY – City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents the 2004 Young Artists Show, an exhibition of local talent, from March 13 through 19, at Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St. Event features the work of young artists from 5 to 18 years of age. The display is open noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3 to 6 p.m. Friday. Special arrangements can be made for school and group tours. GILROY – The Gavilan Small Business Development Center presents “Writing Your Business Plan” on Monday, March 15, from 5:45 to 9 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC offices at the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church St., Building E. Good planning is the basis of any successful business start-up, and a necessity for a loan application. This workshop will lead you to focus on a marketing plan, financial projections and a strategic plan to put your business on the road to success. Only $20, payable in advance or at the door. GILROY – Old City Hall, 7400 Monterey St., is exhibiting the work of local Realtor and photographer Randy Scott in the Assembly Hall Ballroom through the middle of March. Scott has endeavored to capture the spirit and nature of the South Valley. His work is known as the fourth dimension in photography, eschewed by Wynn Bullock in the 1960s, which combines double exposure photography and scenic view borders. Teen poetry slam
MORGAN HILL – Know any teen poets? Morgan Hill Public Library will host a Poetry Slam Workshop on Saturday, March 13, at 3 p.m. where teens can learn to write performance poetry.
Two weeks later, on Saturday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m., teens are invited to perform their own poems and listen to a performance by San Jose’s premier slam poet, Paradox. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Dance in Aromas
AROMAS – The Aromas Community Grange presents recording artists Joe Weed, Peter Spicer and Chris Jong as musicians for the “Aromas Contra Dance” on Saturday, March 13.
Joe Weed is one of the top fiddle players in the Bay Area, with numerous recordings to his credit. Peter Spicer’s joyful piano style lends a festive excite-ment to every dance occasion. Chris Jong gives a smooth yet driving rhythm on banjo.

GILROY – The City of Gilroy Housing and Community Development, Gilroy Police Department Neighborhood Resource Unit, United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County and South County Housing present “Gilroy Neighborhood Academy 2004,” at Krazy Koyote Restaurant, 8337 Church St., from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on these dates:
• On Tuesday, March 23, the theme Crime Prevention/Safe Neighborhoods will feature information on 9-11 versus non-emergency calls, gang awareness, graffiti and neighborhood watch.
• On Tuesday, March 30, “Building Your Neighborhood Association” will teach organizing and running a meeting, encouraging participation and building a stronger association.
