Dear Editor,
I was Jeremy’s 6th grade teacher at Rod Kelley School. I
remember Jeremy being a kind, quiet student with a very supportive
family. I can still imagine what his grin looked like. He was in
the same class as my son.

As a teacher, so many young lives cross your path, and you never imagine that any of them will end in such a way. Everything you do as a teacher is done to prepare students for their future, never thinking that this is what their future might hold.
I had read that Jeremy was in Iraq, and I know many other former students that are there as well. I prayed that no one I knew would lose their lives over there but now one of them has. Having my own son the same age as Jeremy, I cannot imagine his parents’ pain, but I know that they have many wonderful memories of him to get them through the worst of times.
