DEAR EDITOR:
The Salvation Army needed extra help this season and then the plea went out for help through many articles written in the Gilroy Dispatch.
We want to thank all of you in the communities of Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill for your outpouring of generosity and support during this holiday season.
If you are amongst those who responded we sincerely thank you for your personal interest and financial and material involvement. Your acts of kindness made a difference in people’s lives during this season of sharing and caring.
You helped us:
• Adopt 39 families who needed extra TLC
• Give over 210 food boxes and almost 800 toys to needy families
• Collect over $16,000 from Bell Ringers sites in Gilroy and Morgan Hill
• KSBW-TV Nob Hill Telethon collected $3,466, 1,644 pounds of food, 55 turkeys, clothing and 604 toys
• 20 Local businesses and/or corporations sponsored both toy and food barrels
• Mail appeal collected over $9,500
• Help a family whose father had his leg amputated and was unable to work
• Help a family whose mother is the sole supporter of the family including two sets of twins and one other child
• Help a family whose father just passed away and the mother was left to be the sole supporter of the family of six
• Donate gifts to the “Angel Tree” for underprivileged children
Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill communities – thank you again for being so generous and wonderfully giving in our plea to make Christmas something extra special. “In giving, we receive.”
