GILROY – Four males suspected of breaking into a store located in the Gilroy Premium Outlets were still on the run Thursday morning – all on foot. One other person, a woman, involved in the break-in was arrested and booked at Gilroy Police Department.

One officer, who was not named in a GPD press release, suffered minor injuries after being involved in a single-vehicle accident while in pursuit of the suspects. The officer was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and was released, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Gilroy Police Department responded to an alarm at Zales Jewelry, 8155 Arroyo Circle #9, at about 3:49 a.m.

Five suspects were seen leaving the area in a rental car and GPD officers initiated a pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle proceeded east on Highway 152, at one point coming to a stop near Lovers Lane east of Gilroy and letting four suspects out of the car. The four immediately fled.

The suspect vehicle then continued east on Highway 152 and was pursued southbound onto Interstate 5 where it was stopped with a “spike strip” by the CHP.

Victoria Jefferson, 27, from the Los Angeles area, was taken into custody.

The four suspects still at large are reported by the alarm company to be African American males wearing black clothing.

Surveillance in Zales captured the suspects inside the store. They gained entry to the store through a back door.

CHP and various other law enforcement agencies lined Lover’s Lane this morning looking for the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
