Kid’s authors in town

GILROY – The Wize Owl Bookstore, 8060 Santa Teresa Blvd., suite 110, will host two award-winning children’s authors to sign their books tonight, from 6 to 7 p.m. Jane Kurtz will sign copies of her book “Saba: Under the Hyena’s Foot,” a historical novel in the American Girl’s – Girls of Many Lands series. Toni Buzzeo will sign copies of her books “Dawdle Duckling” and “The Sea Chest” for young readers. Details:

A good cut for culture

GILROY – A ribbon-cutting ceremony will commemorate the opening of the Kemetic Institute Cultural Center and Museum, 7469 Forest St., on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 8 p.m. The Mayor, City Council members of Gilroy and Morgan Hill and Sisters United will be some of the honored guests. Enjoy Polenta Dinner

GILROY – The Italian Catholic Federation Branch No. 28 will present their fourth annual “Polenta Dinner” on Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Mary Church Hall, located at 11 First St. Dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. A donation of $12 for adults and $5 for children under 12 will go to benefit ICF charities.
