DEAR EDITOR:

I have sent The Dispatch a few letters in response to articles about the Indian Motorcycle shutdown. To date none have had the gut-wrenching effect that “The selling of a Legend” has had. The reality of the Indian Motorcycle Company once again entering hibernation is not a pleasant place to go for those of us who are passionate about our bikes and the logo’s affixed.

Your article, like any well-written article creates questions and only leaves us wanting more answers. For example, why would potential buyer Bill Melvin sell off perfectly good stock items such as motors and frames if he intends to build motorcycles? Once assembled into complete motorcycles each unit would be more valuable to a new start-up than individual auction items.

The current sale of Indian parts sends up some mighty big red flags as far as I am concerned. Is it a cash flow problem? I think not. My departed dad who also rode an Indian would ask: Did the fox get in the hen house again?

It’s down to the wire with Indian, keep the articles coming. It’s the company name and history that holds the value to any true Indian supporter.
