George C. Dittbrenner died in the morning of Saturday, Jan. 10,
at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister, at the age of 60,
after a sudden illness.
George C. Dittbrenner died in the morning of Saturday, Jan. 10, at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister, at the age of 60, after a sudden illness.

Dittbrenner came to San Benito County from New York 36 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.

Dittbrenner was a tractor mechanic for 30 years. He was also an avid fisherman. On Saturday mornings, he enjoyed visits with his friends. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, Summer.

He is survived by his wife Barbara L. Dittbrenner, of Hollister, daughter Sara R. Blomquist and her husband Eric, of Hollister, granddaughter Summer Blomquist, also of Hollister, his mother Mildred Dittbrenner, of New York, and his brother Gerald Dittbrenner, also of New York, as well as three nieces.

A memorial service will be offered at the Grace Bible Church, 634 Monterey St., Hollister, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Private graveside services will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home. Contributions are preferred to benevolent fund in care of Grace Bible Church in lieu of flowers.
