Like most of Gilroy right now, we are in full-on garlic-mode. On Saturday, July 10, we covered the Garlic City Fun Run in downtown Gilroy, complete with footage of some fast cars and smokin’ bands.

We’re putting the finishing touches on that piece, and will be scheduling it in the coming weeks on Public Access Channel 20. Keep your eyes peeled on our Web site, www.mycmap.org, and on the channel guide, for you digital cable subscribers.

CMAP was honored to feature the dynamic duo of SakaBozzo in the television studio last Friday night. They premiered their 2004 Garlic Festival Recipe, right on the air for our viewers and crew to enjoy (especially the volunteer crew, as they get to enjoy the recipes first-hand after the show!)

The tantalizing aroma of their Garlic Bologna Sandwich filled the TV studio, much to the distraction of our camera people and director.

You can catch the Garlic Bologna Sandwich masterpiece, as well as a couple of other garlic-laced recipes on Sakabozzo Cooks!, tonight at 5 p.m., Public Access Channel 20.

The show will see some heavy airplay the days before the Garlic Festival, so once again, check out the Web site listed above. I’d like to thank Sam Bozzo and Gene Sakahara once again for giving the local TV station first dibs on their 2004 recipe. Always fun to have them in the studio!

Finally, we will be in full force at the festival itself on Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 from 12 to 3 p.m.

We’ll be airing our event coverage from 2 to 5 p.m., so when you get home from the festival, turn on the tube to relive the moments.

This year, we have the return of chef and host extraordinaire Bill Flow, as well as San Francisco Chronicle writer Suzanne Pullen, who will be making her debut on CMAP.

CMAP’s Keys to Cooking host Judy Keyes will be out and about with our roving cameraperson, catching interviews with Garlic Festival Chefs.

We also dared to hand a couple of mikes and a camera to those wacky Femer Boys, who will be sampling the garlic ice cream, bologna sandwich and a number of other delicacies, giving us their unbiased, uncensored opinions, no doubt.

We’ve also got a special guest host who is scheduled to interview the Queen and her Court at the festival. She’s a little young to be in the TV biz, but hey, she’s got connections (her mom, Kelly Abbott, is directing our coverage…).

You can be sure that we’ll catch all the usual Garlic Festival events on tape for your viewing pleasure, and perhaps shoot a few local bands to spice up the show. I hear there’s some wacky chick who’s eight months pregnant that is singing with her band on Friday afternoon … hmmm …

If you miss the festival coverage on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., rest assured it will get a lot of airplay the following weeks and months. Use that nifty “guide” button on your remote to check out what’s airing on all of our channels: 17, 18, 19 and 20!
