DEAR EDITOR:

Let’s discuss Cynthia Walker’s column “Independence Day and the leadership vacuum.” Give me a break! What country on what planet are your referring to? Arak of Arakis? Or do you mean Iraq as of the planet earth, because the Iraq that I am referring to.

People, our U.S. soldiers are getting killed more and more daily. I have had contact with some of them recently, and in fact, as of this writing last several days, it is no longer just one or two, but more like four or five at a time – not to mention the “collateral damage” i.e., the death of those “other folks” you know, the ones that actually live there.

And no, I do not feel “safer” because your perpetual denial is working double-time.

Secondly, the last time I heard, the 9/11 commission’s report is not conclusive. So I would not draw too much credible substance to your convenient conclusions just yet. You mention Newsmax as a source and infer that everything is “hunky dory” now because of the “defeat of the Taliban” and that their “money” source has run out. That’s also unsubstantiated so I don’t buy it, even from “experts” such as yourself in world affairs. So do not convolute certain realities and “engineer” yourself back down to earth, please!
