DEAR EDITOR:

I have been driving across Santa Teresa Boulevard for some time, and absolutely marveling how STUPID the residents/walkers/runners that use that area are! This morning was the final proof that that these runners have checked all measure of good sense at the door.

I was driving north on the hallow ground when the car in front of me hit a puppy or small dog. The owner, running some 50 feet behind, started screaming at the driver for hitting his dog. My question is where was the leash? Doesn’t Gilroy have a leash law? This STUPID JOGGER should be arrested and put in jail for animal endangerment. Animals don’t have the sense of reason, and even the best trained obedience dog should be on lead when out in public.

I have seen all sorts of atrocities out on that jogging path, from dogs wandering out on the street off lead, to way over weight dogs being drug along by their owners, to some STUPID person out there in the extreme heat of Gilroy trying to deal with a pet that has injured paws from the heat of the ground or pavement.

As to the city fathers legislating what a pet store owner can sell, why don’t they legislate EXTREME FINES/JAIL SENTENCES for the STUPID runners that abuse their poor pets out on Santa Teresa Boulevard? That would make a better use of the cities law enforcement.
