Boys volleyball team loses third straight road match
SEASIDE – The Mustang spikers’ league slide continued Wednesday with a four-game match loss to host Seaside.
It was the Gilroy’s third straight road loss in the Tri-County Athletic League, after starting off with back-to-back home victories.
After dropping the first two games – 25-15 in game-one and 25-18 in game-two – the Mustangs responded with an impressive 25-18 game-three victory to avoid the sweep. But Gilroy could not keep the momentum going with Seaside clinching the match with another 25-15 nod in game-four.
Senior hitter Kyle Loving led the Mustang spikers with 11 kills, while senior setter Jason Ahumada tallied a team-high 14 assists and teammate Dominic Jackson recorded a team-hgih 17 blocks. Senior middle Nick Mason picked up nine blocks.
The Mustangs look to get back on track with Friday’s rivalry match against Live Oak at 6:30 p.m. on their home court.
