GILROY – The first new attraction to open at Bonfante Gardens since its 2001 inaugural season will debut Saturday.

The new Wild Bird Adventure is a tropical aviary that brings guests face-to-face with their friendly-feathered friends. The birds in the aviary include a mix of cockatiels, grass parakeets, rosellas and zebra finches that fly free in a 20-foot tall aviary. Wild Bird Adventure is a walk through attraction where guests can choose to feed the birds with seed sticks.

“Wild Bird Adventure is consistent with Michael Bonfante’s vision, families will want to visit this interactive new attraction,” said Barb Granter, vice president of Bonfante Gardens. “Bird watchers can learn about bird habitats and behavior, and the birds will eat straight from the hands of spectators.”

Volunteer docents will educate guests about the birds inside the Wild Bird Adventure. Additionally park associates and animal experts will assist guests with feeding and interacting with the birds.

Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park will open to the public for the 2004 season on March 27 at 10 a.m. For a complete 2004 operating calendar, visit www.bonfantegardens.com.
