Community college will accept artwork for Iraq War exhibit
Hollister – Artists, amateurs and professionals, are invited to a submit artwork to Gavilan College’s Hollister show “What is Your Vision of the Iraq War?”
Artists may contribute two or three dimensional works that reflects their view of the war in Iraq. Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready to hang. Tooth-hangers are not permitted.
Free -standing work will be accepted as long as pedestals and floor space are available. All appropriate artwork will be displayed as space permits. Works deemed to be inappropriate, such as nude or graphically violent art, will not be shown.
Mark Fisher, a sculptor and painter, will serve as curator. The Hollister resident has taught art at San Benito High School and drawn editorial cartoons for the Pinnacle.
Fisher is hosting the Iraq art exhibit because “artists have the ability to create a unique forum to discuss the political views of our time. Here is a chance to express your vision of war and the political conflict raging in the Middle East.”
Artists can bring works by the Briggs Building at Gavilan College, 365 Fourth St. in Hollister on Nov. 3 from 6 to 8pm. The exhibit will run from Nov. 7 to Jan. 8.
