2005 Historical Essay Contest,
”
open to high school students or older. Topic may be on any
person, group, place or event relevant to the history of Santa
Clara County.
Length must be between 3,000 and 10,000 words and it must be
submitted in duplicate, each in an appropriate folder or stapled
together.
Gilroy – California Pioneers of Santa Clara County are holding the “2005 Historical Essay Contest,” open to high school students or older. Topic may be on any person, group, place or event relevant to the history of Santa Clara County.
Length must be between 3,000 and 10,000 words and it must be submitted in duplicate, each in an appropriate folder or stapled together.
It must be typed, double-spaced, contain a title page, introduction or preface, table of contents and a bibliography.
The title page must include name, address and phone number of the entrant and students should include their school and teacher’s name.
Entrants grant the Society unlimited publishing rights to their essay.
First-prize winners from the last three years are not eligible.
This year’s first prize is $500 and $100 to the teacher of a student who wins, second prize is $250, third is $150 and three honorable mentions will be awarded $100. Prizes will be awarded at a luncheon June 4, 2005 at Louie’s Village Restaurant in San Jose.
