TENNIS: Alisal sweeps doubles play in 5-2 win over Christopher

The Christopher softball team took an early lead, but wasn’t able to hold on. 
The Cougars (0-1) dropped their season opener 6-3 to Piedmont Hills Tuesday at home. 
Piedmont struck first scoring a run in the top of the first, but CHS answered with three in bottom of the second to lead 3-1. 
PH scored four more in the top of the fifth for the final.
Lindsey Buessing was 1 for 2 with two RBIs in the game. Morgan England was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Michaela Decker was 1 for 2 with a run and a walk. 
Mackenzie Holt (0-1) got the loss in the circle after going the distance. She gave up five earned runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out two.
The Cougars will be back on the diamond at 3:30 p.m. today (weather permitting) at Harbor.
BASEBALL
Soquel tops Christopher in opener
The Christopher baseball team lost its season open 2-1 to Soquel Tuesday at home.

Mikaio Duyao had a single and double, while Kevin Willard had a double. Ricky Suarez also had a single in the game. Nathan Bonsell (0-1) received the loss, but pitched a solid six and a third innings for Christopher. 
 
The Cougars (0-1) will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. March 5 to host Pioneer-San Jose.

BOYS GOLF
Hoenck shoots lowest score for CHS at Viking Classic
Christopher opened its season with three players scoring in the top 20 at the 2014 North Salinas Viking Classic Monday.
Jaeshawn Hoenck led the way, scoring an 87 to tie for 16th place. RJ Montez carded an 88 which was good for a four-way tie in 17th. Tyson Hill rounded out the top 20 with a 91. 
Jeff Driggs scored a 92 to tie for 21st place, while Kole Culberson scored a 102 for 27th place. Dylan Saulo shot a 119 to land in 35th place.
Serra took home the team title, while Palo Alto was second and San Benito was third.
The Cougars will be back on the course at 2:30 p.m. Monday to play Salinas at Corral de Tierre Country Club in Monterey.
