Let potential buyers see how inviting your home is by enhancing curbside appeal.

With the recent rains, everything in South County is turning green – just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day!  Flowers, trees and even “weeds” are blossoming making real estate appear more appealing, and sufferers of allergies weary.
If you’re planning to sell your home this year, step out to the curb and take a long, hard look.  Does it look like an overgrown forest or a park-like setting?
Like the awesome beauty of spring, you want your home to stand out.  To inspire potential buyers to see it as fresh and new.
There are steps you can take to improve the curbside appeal of your home, even when it’s off the beaten path.  Here are just a few to consider.
·           *        Freshly mowed lawns rate high,
·           *       Remove weeds to improve safety and reduce fire hazards,
·           *    Brilliant colored flowers and foliage add zing and draw attention,
·          *    Trimmed trees demonstrate commitment,
·          *         Clean windows (both inside and out) brighten the appearance,
·          *         Cleared walkways and driveways show attention to detail,
·          *    Clean walls and trims show pride of ownership.  Consider touching up paint or a good exterior washing.
A close friend of mine shared a story demonstrating that less can be more.  Their home (not for sale) once had three grand trees in the front yard.  One was damaged by a storm and had to be removed.  This resulted in complements of how spacious the house appeared.  People wanted to know what upgrades had been made.
I’m not suggesting significant changes or a large cash investment are necessary.  Just as a fresh hair style or trim can prompt attention, so can a few adjustments to your home.  You want to invite the admiration of aspiring buyers.
If you’re thinking about selling your home this year, talk to your real estate agent.  Ask them how the market is progressing and what changes you might consider making to enhance your curbside appeal.
As always, let’s foresee the possibilities . . . and get results!
