No need to rack up the PG&E bill by running the air conditioner all day long, as South County temperatures—which reached highs of 95 in Morgan Hill and 94 in Gilroy on Wednesday—will cool off Friday and into the weekend, according to meteorologist Larry Smith from the National Weather Service.
“The worst is over, if you don’t like heat,” said Smith, explaining that the tropical low pressure that resulted in the 90-plus temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will push into the Pacific Northwest and move east.
“Tomorrow it should start to cool down and by Saturday should be a significant cool down,” Smith said.
In Morgan Hill, which hit the mid-90s for a second straight day, the forecast for Friday is a high of 88, then down to 77 on Saturday and 74 on Sunday. Smith said it will continue cooling in the beginning of next week as well.
In Gilroy, Friday’s high is 91, Saturday’s forecast high is 80 and Sunday’s high is 76, according to Smith.
