Christopher’s bats were hot against Milpitas, but it just couldn’t turn basehits into runs.
The No. 9 seeded Cougars outhit No. 8 Milpitas 11-7, but fell 6-5 in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division I Softball Playoffs Wednesday on the road.
Brook Loesch led the offense with a homerun, two RBIs and two hits in the game. Patti Soria also had two hits and an RBI. 
Christopher scored a run in the first, but the host answered with one of their own in the bottom of the inning. Milpitas took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third, but the Cougars scored the equalizer in the top of the fourth. 
Christopher took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth, but Milpitas scored two in the bottom to cut that lead to 5-4. The hosts scored two more in the bottom of the sixth for the final. 
Mackenzie Holt was solid in the circle for the Cougars despite the loss. She allowed six runs—three earned—on seven hits while striking out one and walking three.
Christopher finishes its season with a 16-11 overall record, 5-7 in league.
BASEBALL
Mustangs season ends with Santa Cruz
Gilroy’s season was ended with a 10-2 loss at the No. 4 seeded Santa Cruz in the CCS Division II playoffs Wednesday.
Stats and scoring from this game were not yet available. 
The Mustangs end their season with a 9-16 overall record, 7-11 in league play. 
GYMNASTICS
Cougars’ Scott finishes 20th, Roberts 31st at CCS
Christopher’s Kaelee Scott placed in the Top 20 in three out of her five events Wednesday at the Central Coast Section Gymnastics Championship at Gymtowne in San Francisco.
Scott tied for 19th place in both the bars and the floor, while taking 20th in the all-around.
Tiffany Roberts was the other gymnast competing for Christopher. She took 31st overall with her highest finish coming in the vault—which she tied for 20th.
