Gilroy Mustangs

Christopher’s hot streak continues and it shows no signs of cooling off.
The Cougars won their fifth straight, a 4-2 final, over crosstown rival Gilroy at home Friday.
Christopher scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and that would be all it needed. Gilroy answered with two runs in the top of the fifth, but fell just short.
Brennan Wilson went 1 for 2 with an RBI, a run, a double, a walk and two stolen bases. Ralphy Ortega had an RBI and a stolen base, while Kevin Willard had an RBI and a sac.
Brian Easton got the win for the Cougars, throwing four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out three. Tyler Fhurong was awarded the save, striking out all three batters in the seventh.
Jimmy Lemberger led the Mustangs, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. He was also the losing pitcher, allowing four runs on five hits and five walks in five and a third innings. He also had four strikeouts. Justin Hale also had an RBI in the game.
Christopher also beat Salinas on Tuesday and Thursday by 2-1 and 6-4 scores, respectively. The Cougars (8-3 overall, 6-1 in league) will play at Gilroy at 4 p.m. today.
Gilroy is currently on a four-game losing streak, losing twice to Monterey on March 20 and 21 (8-2 and 5-4 respectively) and Monte Vista Christian, 6-3, on Tuesday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Christopher wins eighth straight
The Cougars played on back-to-back nights, but it didn’t slow them down.
Christopher swept both Oakwood and Watsonville on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, to win its seventh and eighth straight games.
The Cougars beat Oakwood — a contest that was rescheduled from March 5 — easily 25-14, 25-10, 25-10 at home. They followed up with a bit of a closer contest against the Wildcatz — 25-14, 25-23, 25-23 — on the road.
Christopher will look to extend its streak with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Seaside today.
SOFTBALL
Christopher rebounds at Notre Dame Tourney
After two ugly losses last week, Christopher was able to regroup and rebound with a 2-0 performance at the Norte Dame Tournament Saturday in Salinas.
The Cougars kicked things off with a 4-0 win over Pacific Grove before topping Seaside 6-5.
Michaela Decker led the Cougars against PG, going 2 for 3 with two runs, a double and a triple. Mack Holt went the distance against the Breakers, striking out five while allowing four hits and four walks.
Seaside was much tougher, rebounding from Christopher’s early lead with four runs in the top of the fourth to lead 4-3. But the Cougars didn’t back down.
Brook Loesch blasted a homerun to left field which scored Decker and gave Christopher a 5-3 lead. The win was secured when Pati Soria was able to score on a Karli Martinez ground ball in the bottom of the seventh.
Loesch was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, a homerun and a run. Martinez was 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Christopher (10-3 overall, 0-2 in league) will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to host Seaside.
