Morgan Hill artist Sheri Chakamian began painting in her early college years, and she received a bachelor’s degree in fine art with an emphasis in printmaking. She continued painting on the side and participating in several shows while getting a master’s degree and raising her family.
Chakamian has spent the last 18 years in Morgan Hill, where she operates Sheri’s Art Studio, teaching drawing and painting to children of all ages, with an emphasis in watercolor, pastel and pencil.
During her early years, she focused on black-and-white works in lithography, etching and silkscreen, and that has given way to a stronger enunciation of colors in acrylic on canvas.
In her own words
“I am interested in the bond between a man and a woman, their physical attraction and their passion and love. I couldn’t find a better way to show this connection than dancing, where people feel free to show their feelings and emotions through intimate body movement. My paintings tell the story of people that transform their souls through dance to the passionate, free and beautiful dancers.”
